Director / Choreographer

 Josh views his work as a director as an exciting and fulfilling way to bring the best ideas together into a dynamic whole. He loves the creative process: having smart and talented people bringing their ideas and points of view to the rehearsal room or design meeting, and leading the team together in a way that makes for the most enriching creative experience for all involved. He enjoys being the “first audience member,” keeping an eye on how to give the clearest, most compelling, and most engaging theatrical experience for the audience. 

Josh works in musicals, contemporary and new plays, and classics including Shakespeare and Molière. His directing focuses on the power of text, with its specificity and rhythms and silences, as well as the innate visual storytelling of human beings in space. In doing so, he aims to celebrate the intrinsic magic of being in a dark room together and experiencing a story being told live and in real time in front of us.

Crucially, Josh’s work is rooted in the perspective of theatre being an expression of empathy, and is therefore passionate about reimagining what theatre can be, making it a more diverse, equitable, accessible and inclusive art.
